Greenspun Library
Library Services and Resources
Librarian
Mr. Slocum
The GJHS library offers many resources and services to enhance each student's educational experience and to promote information literacy.
BOOKS: Our media center houses approximately 25,000 monographs of varying interest and reading levels. Organized by the Dewey Decimal system, our non-fiction section offers our patrons up-to-date information on a wide assortment of topics including sciences, languages, history, and biographies. The fiction section, organized by an author's last name, contains classics, pop fiction, story collections, and many other types of literature. The reference collection, also organized by the Dewey system, is the location of atlases, almanacs, encyclopedias, and other information resources. Because these books are intended for multiple users, they are to remain in the center.

MAGAZINES: The GJHS library subscribes to several periodicals. The most current issues are on a display rack for patron use in the media center. We also receive the LV Review Journal and the USA Today each week day

COMPUTERS: Thirty Internet equipped computer stations are available to students in the center. Each student must have a signed copy of the "Appropriate Use Policy" on file with Greenspun Junior High, and appropriate "net"iquette is expected.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES/SERVICES: For a nominal fee ($.10/page), students can print from the computer or copier. Pens and pencils are also available for $.25 to $.50.
Wii GAMING AREA
The Spring 2009 Scholastic book fair was a rousing success for our school, grossing over $7,800 to help us purchase much needed library books and school supplies for our students. As part of our "Wii Love the Book Fair" promotion, students, parents, and staff helped us to exceed our sales goal, thus earning a Nintendo Wii interactive game system for the library. The game system will be implemented as part of the library's positive social interaction center, with students' names being drawn each day to determine whose turn it is to compete in sports contests in the Wii gaming center.
